Lorina Karreci, LMSW earned her clinical degree from the University of Michigan. Her experience prior to joining Lotus includes providing counseling and advocacy services at the Center for the Education of Women and Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County. Lorina also has experience as a clinical therapist at Development Centers, a community mental health agency where she worked with children and adolescents struggling with difficulties relating to trauma, anxiety, depression, body image, identity, and substance use. She has had the honor and privilege of spending time with clients from diverse cultures and backgrounds, ranging from children to adults. Lorina’s work is grounded in providing a safe, non-judgemental, compassionate space for her clients. Along with a strengths-based, client-centered approach, she utilizes techniques rooted in cognitive-behavioral therapies, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. She is also certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Guided by the individual’s unique needs, Lorina seeks to help empower clients while also acknowledging the systematic barriers and oppression they may be facing. She assists clients in recognizing their own strengths and building on their own tools, creating a path towards more self-compassion and self-acceptance along the way. During her time out of the office, Lorina enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors, and playing with her dog.
