For some of us grief, loss and transition bring a wide and often confusing range of emotions and behavioral changes including anger, denial, bargaining, crying spells, changes in sleep and appetite, impact on productivity.
While recovery doesn’t happen in a set period of time, in normal grief, symptoms and their frequency evolve over time but you do not have to navigate this alone.

Counseling for loss and grief at Lotus is intended to help you to process your loss, stabilize and move through pain in a meaningful way. Our team is here to help you unpack layers, or loss and grief, provide effective, evidence based strategies and walk with you as you clarify and pursue life that is important to you. Whether you hope to spend more quality time with friends and family, get back to places and things you are passionate about and want to explore or living life with contentment, clarity, focus and joy again, we will walk with you, allowing small steps pave the way to healing.
We do what works
We use evidence-based treatment approaches informed by the best science available and what research and direct practice have shown to be effective.
This includes mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapies such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. We incorporate basics from theories such as Kubler Ross of loss and grief model and Worden’s Tasks of Grieving.

Together we decide if we are a good fit, schedule your first appointment and begin a thorough assessment.
Most clients seeking help with loss and grief concerns are seen weekly for a 55min session each week. For those who need more intensive work, we meet twice per week or refer out to higher level of care. Clients who have been in therapy before and are coming for recovery maintenance can quickly start scheduling meetings every other week. Thoughtful assessment and communication help us determine best course of treatment for you. If your needs change so does treatment planning.

Insurance and payment options
We accept Blue Cross, Blue Shield insurance, Blue Care Network including Premier Care, Michigan Care, Aetna, United Healthcare, Priority Health, Multiplan and Cigna via Multiplan. We are also happy to provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance. Some insurance plans offer out of network benefits. Our out of pocket fee is $145 – $170 and we have some sliding scale options.
We accept cash, check and credit payments as well as HAS/FSA cards.
