College mental health at Lotus Consulting

Here you are, at the college or program of your dreams or at least high on your priority list and you are struggling.

You have been feeling stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, out of place. It feels as though you are just going through the motions.

You have done all the work to get in and prepared well. You are used to succeeding but now you feel more like small fish in large pond, overwhelmed by competing demands, trying to find your way in the midst of it all, academics, relationships, multiple stressors all at once. Figuring out your people, places and things, how or where you and your identities fit in it all.

You would like to feel connected, confident, focused and effective again.

But when it comes to finding your path and balance, you feel disoriented, finding it hard to make decisions with clarity and ease like you used to.  This is unsettling, as you have not always felt this out of control or uncertain. In fact, as you tackled challenges throughout your life you always found enough clarity to keep moving forward with purpose and conviction.

Yet, being on campus now, navigating all the moving pieces at once, everything from living situation, social dynamics, friends and faculty relationships, high-pressure academics along with daily life you feel overwhelmed and a bit lost. You are trying all you can but the results do not seem to quite reflect your effort.

You wonder if your vision is attainable exactly as you hoped. You doubt yourself and your decisions. You wonder if this path is for you.

We are here to help. You can feel satisfied, focused and in control again.

Whether you are a freshman new to campus trying to figure out roommate situation, required and preferred classes, keeping up with social life and pressures, finding your way and your voice on campus, exploring your identities and freedom, whether you are a graduate student returning to academia from working after college or we are catching you just before leaving college for an internship, residency or your dream job…we are here to help. We work with students every day and we make it our business to understand student mental health and best practices. We make it our business to understand your concerns. Familiar and always up to date on campus, local and national resources and evidence-based treatments, we begin by careful assessment of your presenting concerns, identities and barriers. Together we then develop a plan to achieve your goals and living life meaningful to you while in college or after.

Most students begin with a weekly 55 min long session. We are also happy to connect with you for a free 20min phone consultation.

We accept Blue Cross, Blue Shield insurance, Blue Care Network including Premier Care, Michigan Care, Aetna, United Healthcare, Multiplan and Cigna via Multiplan. GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE for clients not using insurance

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
  • Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
